DOT Europe has joined a coalition of industry voices in a joint letter on the future of European cloud policy. Cloud computing underpins almost every part of the modern economy, from small businesses and start-ups to public services and critical infrastructure.
The letter calls for a cloud framework that is open, competitive and grounded in strong security, rather than one that raises barriers and fragments the single market.
European organisations benefit most when they can choose the best technology for their needs. Requirements that limit choice on grounds unrelated to security risk raising costs and slowing digital transformation.
Security and resilience should be the benchmark. Clear, technology-neutral standards give customers confidence while keeping the door open to investment and innovation from providers of every size.
An open and competitive cloud market is in Europe’s strategic interest. Choice and security are not in tension; they reinforce one another.

DOT Europe will keep working with policymakers to ensure European cloud policy supports competitiveness, sovereignty and trust in equal measure.
