DOT Europe presents a legal assessment on article 9 of the GDPR under the Digital Omnibus
The EU AI Act has entered its next implementation phase, with a wave of guidance, standards and codes of practice now taking shape. As the world’s first comprehensive law on artificial intelligence, its success will be measured in how workable it proves for the organisations that build and deploy AI in Europe.
DOT Europe has consistently supported a risk-based approach to AI regulation. The focus now must be on clear, predictable implementation that protects fundamental rights without holding back responsible innovation.
Practical guidance is essential. Companies need to understand exactly what is expected of them, when obligations apply and how to demonstrate compliance, so that smaller players are not crowded out by uncertainty.
Harmonised standards and well-designed codes of practice can do much of this work. They translate high-level principles into concrete steps and help Europe set a benchmark that the rest of the world can follow.
Getting implementation right matters as much as the law itself. Clear rules, applied consistently, are what turn ambition into trust.
