Data drives the modern digital economy.

Data is the foundation of the digital economy. Having a regulatory framework that is clear, coherent, and grounded in operational reality is crucial.

DOT Europe team working in an open-plan office

From the GDPR to the Data Act and the wider European data strategy, DOT Europe supports a regulatory framework that protects privacy while enabling the responsible flow and use of data.

As Europe’s data rulebook continues to evolve, the priority should be improving coherence rather than adding complexity. Simplification efforts are welcome, but many of today’s challenges stem from fragmented implementation and inconsistent enforcement across Member States rather than shortcomings in the legislation itself.

A more harmonised approach would reduce legal uncertainty, facilitate cross-border operations, strengthen compliance, and allow regulators to focus resources where they have the greatest impact.

Current Focus Of Data

  • GDPR

Supporting consistent, workable application of the GDPR across Member States, so strong privacy protection goes hand in hand with legal certainty for businesses.

  • Data Act

Engaging on the Data Act’s implementation to ensure fair data-sharing rules that unlock value while respecting trade secrets and security.
